The Queen attends reception celebrating centenary of women in Navy

She was the first female member of the Royal Family to join the Armed Services.

So it is fitting that the Queen attends an event marking the centenary of the Women’s Royal Navy Service and the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp.

As a young woman she became a member of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) in 1945.

Joined by her daughter Princess Anne, the monarch looks sensational in blue at the Army and Navy Club in London’s Pall Mall, where is met by the Chairman of Army and Navy Club, Colonel Ian Paterson.
